Dayan, Moshe
Former Finance Ministr (1977-1979). Born1915, took part in Haganah activities and briefly imprisoned by Mandatory authorities until allowed to fight against Vichy regime in Lebanon (1941). Led Jlem forces in 1948 war. Member of Israeli delegation to Rhodes talks. Quickly rose thru IDF to become Chief-of-staff (1953-1958). Member of Knesset from 1959. Minister of Agriculture (1959-1964). Recalled to become Ministry of Defence prior to 1967 war (1967-1974), leaving with refused to continue under Golda Meir. Finance Ministr under Begin (1977-1979), leaving due to disagreements about negotiations for autonomy in Palestinian areas. Founded the short-lived Telem party. Reelected as its Member of Knesset in 1980. Died1981.
